Konusu:
Dizi Kral Jeongjo’nun sonradan kovulmuş olan ancak sarayda çalıştıkları sürede arkadaş oldugu iki çocukla arkadaşlık döneminden başlamaktadır. Jeongjo’nun büyük babası olan Kral Yeongjo veliaht prensin hükümete karşı bir darbe düzenlemesinden korktuğu için katıksız bir şekilde bir prinç deposuna hapseder. Elinden hiçbirşey gelmeyen ancak babasını kurtarmak isteyn Jeongjo arkadaşları Song Yeon ve Dae Su’nın yardımı ile Krala babasını affetmesi için yalvarır.
Bu kısımdan sonra dizi Jeongjo’nun arkadaşları ile tekrar iletişime geçtiği yetişkinlik yıllarına geçiş yapmaktadır. Dizi süresince saray entrikaları nedeniyle sürekli bir tehkline içinde olan veliaht prenslik pozisyonu gösterilmekte.
Saray sanatçısı olan babasını henüz çok küçük yaşta iken kaybetmiş olan Sung Song Yeon (Jeongjo’nun çocukluk arkadaşlarından biridir) ‘a Jeongjo’nun aşık olmaya başlaması ile devam eden dizi sarayın entrikalar ile dolu olduğu bir dönemde Jeongjo’nun krallığı eline alması ve Yi San’ı güçlendirmesini ile devam etmektedir. Bazı kısımlarda tarihi kayıtlardan farklı olarak işlenmiş olan dizi o dönümin saray hayatını gözler önüne serecek şekilde çekilmiştir.
